I just found a great website and thought I'd share it with everyone. It's called answers.com and it has so much stuff on there you wouldn't believe me if I told you, so check it out yourself - you'll be amazed. It's like a collection of EVERYTHING individual-topic reference websites are made of (dictionary.com, wiki..), but it's not only got a bit of info for everything.. for example, say you went to the "dictionary" tab and typed in "winter".. you get all the definitions (even from old/middle english!), you can listen to the word on a sound file or in various author's passages; its different uses; there's a detailed animated picture of the earth with winter coming and going; a lengthy definition of how different cultures (past and present) saw winter and made it a part of their calendars etc; what causes winter; migrating animals; winter sports; its symbolism and mythology; winter paintings by famous artists, poems; it immediatly translates the word into 16 different languages for your reference . . . it even shows you what it looks like in sign language! And best of all, all these things have links so if you want something elaborated, it's just a click away. On the main page, there are even resources for webmasters, bloggers, teachers, librarians, journalists, small businesses and advertisers. You can browse the news, images, the web, go shopping online, yada yada yada. Plus.. it's 100% free. . . I thought wikipedia was good, but wow, now I don't need to go through all the reference sites to find something; it's all in one place.

Okay.. I have no idea what I'm going to write about. *thinks* Nothing eventful has happened the last few days, except that they were extremely exhausting with homework and finishing up my correspondence. I can't wait to get home and watch a movie and maybe snack on some cookies :p Mmmm cookies.. sugar. ^_^ I was going to study some more tonight, but I don't think I'll be awake enough by the time I get home. Hmmm........ oh, the Drama 10/12 class got the smoking video done on time - thanks to Chrissy. ;) The only sad thing is my parents didn't want to sign the form thingy that allowed me to be in it, so I had to *sniff* be *sniff* cut out.... waaaaa. *sigh* Oh well... I was gonna say maybe next year, but I guess I'm not going to be in school anymore then! hehe I suppose it's a final "oh well". *ponders* I'm starting to get excited about my birthday. Woo! 18! *yawn* Well, my brain's dead for tonight. Toodles.

Wow.. we got one foot of snow over the past two weeks and yesterday most of it just melted away. I love winter.. well, actually just the snow.. but I'm excited about spring. I hope it comes early this year so Big Bar lake warms up quicker and I can go swimming sooner! I haven't gotten to making an igloo yet this winter, and I don't think it would last long even if I found the time to do so. Ever winter it melted before I could finish it.. I'm thinking maybe it's time to give it up..... until I go to Iceland where I can take as long as I want and don't have to worry about it melting!

*YAWN!* I am so sleep deprived! I spent more hours sleeping during two nights last week than I have all this week. Last night - well, actually this morning - I had to stay up until 2:30 am to finish a project for Chemistry, and I only got 4 hours of Zzz's. *yawn* The night before, I had to stay up late to work on the project as well. Tuesday was the same, Monday too with tons of catching up to do because I missed a few days of school..... *yawn* I'm so glad Chem homework doesn't have to be handed in until Monday, that way I can go to sleep as soon as I get home from school tomorrow and sleep in until late afternoon on Saturday. :p Ahhhh, sleep. neeeed sleep! SLEEP! *cough* Yes.... well, at least I got something out of it: I got my project all done. Thank goodness I didn't hear what Alex thought he heard Mrs. Mertens say about handing it in on Tuesday. hehe ;)

Today in Foods 11/12 we had a debate on whether Canada should ban animal products - completely. In other words, whether or not ALL Canadians should become vegans! There were four groups and each had some pretty good points - especially the one I was in. :p Basically, the main concerns were that a lot of jobs would be lost, the meat/dairy industry would crash (yeah..), and people would have a hard time getting the protein they need. But let's face it, meateaters.. you just can't imagine saying bye-bye to your beloved FLESH!!!
If Canada did make it illegal to grow animals for food, the government would put programs in place to help people get into the vegan lifestyle. Yet, realistically, of course, this new way of nourishing ourselves would take years to make happen: the number of crop farms and orchards would need to be built up first, alternatives for animal by-products would need to be produced on a much larger scale (like glue from plants, pleather etc.), and a whole new system of production and transportation would have to be put in place. BUT in the end, no more animal cruelty, no more methane farts causing global warming, and a MUCH healthier society. Wooo! Go Veggies!

A Proud Vegetarian.
